Treating approximately 6,000 patients annually, the Institute recently expanded to accommodate the needs of the community, occupying the top three floors of the new east tower. State-of-the art equipment, leading heart physicians and specialists, VIP suites and advanced technology are some of the features of the new Institute.

Our cardiac catheterization labs have been renovated and expanded and are now among the largest in Houston. Within these labs, skilled medical staff cardiologists perform angioplasties, place stents and implant pacemakers.

Known for innovation, the Institute has established digital archiving of catheter images with online remote physician access and added robotic assisted surgery with the da Vinci® Surgical System.

The only facility in Houston to win the 2005 V.H.A. Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence for exceptional performance in the clinical management and treatment of heart attack patients.
The Institute has achieved an average door-to-balloon time of just 91 minutes. This measure of performance is in the top 10 percent of all U.S. hospitals and No. 1 in Houston as reported by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Door-to-balloon time is defined as the transition time for heart attack patients from arrival to the cardiac catheterization lab for treatment.
The Texas Medical Foundation Health Quality Institute has recognized the Institute with the 2005 Award of Excellence for AMI and Heart Failure. Only four hospitals in the Houston area have received this award.
